A note from Justin

Justin is a North Carolina native with more than 10 years of experience supporting the wellbeing of individuals and families, and helping couples navigate and strengthen their relationships. He earned his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina A & T State University.

Justin is dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, life transitions and trauma. With a background in community mental health, Justin brings a direct yet empathetic approach, focusing on helping clients build healthy relationships and self-esteem. Justin’s approach is rooted in compassion, combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, and Family Centered Therapy. Justin gives techniques to give you practical tools you can implement immediately.

He works with kids 5+, teens and adults and is currently our only counselor on staff that offers Family Therapy and Couples Therapy in addition to Individual Therapy. Justin also has experience working with retired and active military veterans and their families. He uses evidence-based methods to help clients process past experiences and reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression.

Justin is currently accepting new clients for both in-person and teletherapy. If you're ready to start feeling more grounded in yourself or your relationships, use the link above to self-schedule a free, 15-minute consultation.

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of psychotherapy focusing on the present connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT can help you by identifying thinking errors (like catastrophizing or black-and-white logic) and replacing them with realistic thoughts.

What is CBT-I?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is a structured, goal-oriented form of psychotherapy. It uses core components like stimulus control, sleep restriction, and cognitive restructuring to help patients retrain their mind and body for better sleep. Typically, individuals see results within 6 to 8 sessions. If you are struggling with insomnia, CBT-I may be the support you need.

What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy that balances acceptance and change through mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation. DBT can help you with your distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and emotional regulation. Learn to strengthening your skills in communicating clearly, setting boundaries, and keeping self-respect in relationships.

What is ERP for OCD?

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a specialized form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the gold-standard treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). ERP helps to reduce anxiety by safely exposing individuals to fear-triggering thoughts or situations while intentionally preventing their usual compulsive or avoidant behaviors, retraining the brain to tolerate uncertainty.
