A note from Joanna

Hi, I’m Joanna, a veteran teacher turned therapist, and I’m here to help! I love therapy, normalizing the human experience, and helping children, teens, and adults develop strong coping skills for anxiety, executive dysfunction, and outbursts/overwhelm.

My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded. I will always be real with you and hold space for your path and pace. Growth is non-linear and will look different for everyone; you can’t do it wrong when you’re trying. I believe therapy should be a safe, non-judgmental, affirming space in whatever way feels most supportive to you, because it is for you.

I like to tailor my therapeutic approach to the person in front of me, checking in along the way to see what’s working and what needs adjusting. I particularly enjoy helping settle overactive nervous systems by incorporating centering practices like art, tapping, mindful walking, fidgets, or floor sitting into our sessions. These can help with emotional regulation and connect sensations to feelings (like noticing when you feel shaky or sweaty before recognizing anger). Slowing down and practicing mindfulness helps us anticipate what’s coming next in our body, so we can respond to early cues, rather than react to something that feels like it came from nowhere. Over time, these skills help smooth transitions and build more predictable, supportive systems and routines in our lives.

If this feels like a good fit, please reach out to schedule a free consultation with me.
